Critical elements in the execution of a quality plan

1. Customer focus: Quality is defined by the customers. Any quality improvement plans must have sufficient insight about what customers are unhappy about. The quality plans should be prepared based on this insight. Moreover, the customers may be involved in quality improvement plans. The customers' voice/feedback should be used as a matrix to understand wheather the quality plans has been executed propoerly or not.

2. Leadership strategies: Quality begins from the top managment. The leaders should engage with the quality execution plans and create a culture of quality. The support from the top leaders is crucial for successful execution of any quality plans.

3. Support from the process owners: Quality is ensured by the peoples actually working in the business process. As such involvement of process owners are crucial as well. The process owners must be trained according to the quality plans, their concerns must be addressed and they should be communicated / informed about the importance of quality in their work.

4. Resource committment: Quality improvement projects needs resources and committed people. It is the responsibility of the leaders to ensure that enough resources has been allocated for the quality works.

Development of quality philosophy

Based on the mission of the organization, the quality philosophy must put the focus on satisfaction of the customers or end users. Quality is defined by the customers. Quality is a matrix of customer satisfaction. Therefore the focus of quality philosophy should be customers satisfaction. The quality philosophy should also serve as a guiding light for the process owners to ensure quality in their day to day work. Quality philosophy should also create a sense of urgency among the leaders about ensuring quality in everything they do.
