Please respond to the post below on whether you agree with their view or not and why you feel this way. Must be at least two paragraphs.
Without good leadership, desired change will not happen in a timely manner. Leaders need both personal qualities, notably enthusiasm, and professional skills, to involve others in decision-making and the management of change.
Enthusiasm and passion displayed by a leader are an extremely integral part of the process; however it is also very important to have the right people in the right role. Part of the management of change requires that we select the proper people for the proper job. According to our textbook there are two types of people in relation to how they handle change: agents of change and agents of stability (Prather, 2010).
Agents of change are the people who excel at producing the radical change required for innovation. In general they are the most comfortable at accepting and dealing, and even creating, radical change. Agents of stability on the other hand, are the type of people who excel at perfecting the existing system. They are capable of change but to a much lesser degree. These are the people who will likely produce the cumulative incremental change that is also of extreme importance to an organization. A leader/manager who is not comfortable with radical change is not the type of person you want playing a major role in the transformation of a company. On the other hand you do not want an agent of stability leading a research and development team. Once the right people are in the right roles we can then maximize a leader’s ability to positively influence via instilling a sense of enthusiasm and passion.
Explanation / Answer
Completely agree with the above written statements. Leaders should be people who have done things on their own and have walked the path. Leader os the one who leads the group and someone who is inexperienced and without any passion and enthusiasm will never be able to guide people and show them the right way.
Generally people based on their risk taking abilites and prior experiences are falls in 2 categories i.e. Agents of Change and Agents of Stability.
Leaders who don't hesitate while taking bold decision are genrally the agent of change. These leaders don't mind taking risk and prefer to change things with time. In modern times most of the companies prefer these kind of leaders as they put organizations ahead of the competitors by bringing change and innovations.
Agents of stability on the other hand protest the change. They don't like taking risk and protest against any change organization likes to bring. In the latest times this kind of leadership has lost its relevance.
