Explanation / Answer

As per the Standards of Practice of The Ombudsman Association, the ombudsman is considered to be neutral, impartial and unaligned. He/she has an obligation to strive for impartiality, fairness and objectivity in the treatment of people and consideration of issues. He makes fair and just decisons that are for the interest of the people. Besides that, the person advocates for fair and equitably administred processes.

As per the stated case, a student blames professor Mrs. March little for grading irregularities. The student soughts ombudsmen's assistance for resolving the matter. However, the student was unaware that March little was ombudsmen's wife. In such a situation, the ombudsmen, Peter Little would make fair and just decision irrespective of any personal relations. The ombudsmen would not favour his wife and would be impartial and give neutral and fair decision.

Also, the problem would not give rise to conflict of interest as Mr. Peter little is clear about his roles and responsibilities and would make sure that the matter is resolved in a peaceful manner.
