Yes, it is important for organizations to have a social media presence today. companies which are into any form of selling of goods and services can use the social media platforms like LinkedIn to promote their products. Social media can be an important tool for marketing and connecting with like minded professionals. However, not all form of social media are suitable to an organisation's need and may draw unnecessary attention from competitors and unwanted people.

2. The preference for a social media outlet depends upon the nature of business of the organisation. Ideally, an outlet, which has a strong professional user base within the field of that business could be useful. For eg, an HR Consulting firm can use Linkedin to hire suitabel professionals for their clients. Any confidential information, internal information should be avoided from posting to social media.
