Explanation / Answer

1. Motivation and Performance are interrelated and interconnected. Motivated employees are satisfied with their job and work environment in the firm, as a result giving high-performance based results which helps the firm in growing and attaining success.

Motivational employees do best with full commitment and willingness. They perform actively and enjoy their job description. In case, any employee is not satisfied with his/her job, he/she will work unwillingly, as a result, it becomes a hindrance in the growth of the firm. The desired results will not be accomplished which makes a firm's survival on a short-term basis.

2. There are 5 levels in need hierarchy. They are as follows:

Physiological needs: These are basic needs of human beings including food, shelter, clothing, air, water and other neccesities of life. Once these needs are satisfied, an individual jumps upon the other needs

Safety needs: these needs are related to safety and security, such as economic security, safety from dangers. To fulfill these needs, an employee needs more monetary help which makes him work more in a company to make money.

Social needs: After satisfying safety needs, a person is interested in meeting social needs, meeting people socially , interacting with other people, acquintance, companionship, etc. Thus, a person wants to work in groups and with team giving better results in a firm.

Esteem needs: These needs are realted to self-esteem and self-respect. Every employee wants applause, appreciation from other fellow employees as well as from employers. They want recognition in the organization, as a result they attain high-performance based results.

Self-actualisation needs: these needs help an individual in attaining what he actually perceives, basically fulfilling every desire. Self-actualisation means fulfillment.

3. Goal setting is crucial and helps in motivating employees in a firm. Goal should be clear to everyone. Goal can be explained in steps or measures. The more clear and measurable , the more its easy to understand and concentrate. Goals should be set seeing the cost, time, labor as well as the market sector, economy so that it can be achieved fulfilling all the above factors.

Goal should be real so that employees can achieve with full confidence and their capabilities. There must be a deadline to accomplish the goal. In case, deadline is crossed, desired results can not be attained making the firm loose its confidence to grow successfully.

For a firm to be successful, it is important for every individual working in the firm to work with full commitment and achieve goals. The person working must accomplish the goals and objectives assigned. He must be sincere and dedicated. He must be actively involved in every activity.

6. Role of financial incentives is at large an important factor in attaining basic as well as safety needs. Money helps a person achieve its targets and goals. Individuals are rewarded monetary incentives including cash rewards, increment in wages and salaries, bonus, etc. Money helps a perason in achieving social needs as people like to interact with those who have same or high standard of living. Money helps in building status in our society. High status means more money required, thus a person is motivated to work more to achieve more in organization as well as in the society.

7. Steps in communication process:

Effective communication is central to the success of any firm. It is dedfined as the interchange of thoughts, opinions or information by speech writing or signs and gestures. It involves at least two persons-sender and receiver. The steps are:

a sender develops an idea to be communicated

b translating that idea that it is understandable to the others, which is called encoding

c after translating sender gets a message that can be communicated

d Next, means or medium of communication is determined, whether to send message through telephone, email or verbally mouth to mouth.

e Message is sent through that medium of communication

f message is received by the receiver

g receiver interpretes the message into his language that it is understandable to him, ie decoding

h feedback: it is sent to see their the feedback is positive or negative
