Congratulations, your company recently launched a new advertising campaign worth over a million dollars in a new foreign market. Orders are pouring in for your product which is extremely popular and in high demand. However, you have a problem. You just received notice that a Customs officer, while performing a routine inspection, revealed there is no evidence that your product meets the country’s safety standards and cannot be released for sale until compliance is demonstrated. Your engineering department reviewed the issue and believes it could take several months to perform the necessary testing to demonstrate your product is compliant. To make matters worse, your biggest competitor, Alibaba, just released a copy-cat product that resembles your product but is less expensive and inferior quality. What actions would you take to resolve the problem?

As a senior management personnel I would definitely try to speed up the safety complaint process and fasten things at a greater pace. In order to overcome the competition from the competitor smartness is very important. When a product with superior quality has safety issues, then a product with inferior quality will definitely have safety issues as well. In the mean time when the competitor product is exactly a copy-cat, we might go ahead with the copy right infringement and get stay for the competitor product. I would gain this as the lead time and pressurize the quality department to fasten the complaince process.

The only method would be to stop the launch of the new product and gain the time for meeting standards. In the meanwhile all the customers should be informed about the delay and they should be updated on the actual market scenario. By creating trust and by having a cordial relationship with the customers it is possible to retain clients and make the product successfull in foreign market.
