My current position at my job is considered a safety sensitive position, so I plan to use everything I have learned to improve my overall working environment. For example, the company I work for is funded by the federal government, so I will use the resources I learned in week two about how federalism and public administration work against each other. The public administrators at my job go through the politicians who fight every year to try to get funds from the federal government. I have a much clearer picture of how we actually receive funds.

Our department recently hired a new department head from outside the company and he has an authoritarian style of governing. When he took over as Managing Director, he changed the schedule in my department from 6am-2:30pm, being off on Saturday and Sunday, to 3pm-11:30pm being off on Sunday and Monday. There was no data that supported why the change and he didn’t consult with some of the senior Instructors that had over 25 years of service. After week three, the research I did on leadership showed me what kind of leader he was. I was actually able to inform some of my co-workers about the different styles of leadership so they would understand also. Of course, we as Instructors are authoritarian leaders ourselves, but because we teach new employee, we need to give instruction without any feedback

In week four, I learned how important it is to have a budget and to know how much is actually in the budget. Our company has put a freeze on all jobs and all finances until the new General Manager hires a new Finance Director. From the research that I did on budgets and financing, I was able to give my director some input on the current budget situation. Also, now I can look at our company’s budget and understand it a lot better than before. My company’s federal funding greatly depends on the success of the company.

Organizational strategies are very important when you have many different instructors teaching the same lesson plan, but in a different way. I implemented some ideas at work that help guide a lot of instructors to teach the lesson plan more alike than different. Using a strategy for this particular environment is a must because of the product that we are putting out. If there is one bad apple in the bunch, the training department seems to always be responsible

I have also been able to apply better grammar to my work and my spelling is always improving when I take an online class. This makes me more comfortable when I’m teaching class and I’m at the chalk board writing out big words. That used to be a fear for me. This class was well worth it.

I do agree with the comment because of the following reasons –

· I got a fair idea – in my present position - to distinguish between different styles of leadership and informed my co-workers too, so they too would have a fair understanding about the same.

· As my company’s federal funding greatly depends on the success of the company - I did a research on budgets and financing,I learnt the significance of budget and the technicalities to prepare it. I provided my director some input on the current budget situation.

As a part of organizational strategies for the training department, I helped a lot of instructors to teach the lesson plan in a similar manner rather than in different styles. This uniformity would certainly give good results in long run.

took online classes to improve my grammar and my spellings. This gave me confidence to address my own training classes with comfort and ease to reach a wider audience and explain them in a much better way.
