Question

A number of different decision making styles exist. If you have not done so already, please listen to the Week 4 Recorded Lecture for an introduction to the decision-making styles that our Week 4 Lecture describes. The purpose of understanding these styles is to realize that people have different styles. How people view and make decisions is critical to what information they need and the amount of time needed to make a decision. Let's start the week discussing the leadership decision making styles as discussed in the Week 4 Lecture. At times (usually with major decisions) we analyze a decision situation, but must present the recommended solution or decision to our manager. Understanding your own decision making style and your manager's will be important to how you present your recommendation. So, what is your primary decision making style – Rational Satisficer, Subjective Satisficer, Subjective Maximizer, Rational Maximizer? Why is that your preference?

Explanation / Answer

My preference for the decision making style is rational maximizer. I prefer it because it not only helps in making objective decision, but also it also gives best solution according to the situation by elaborating the different aspects of the situation. It is acceptable to the majority of the group also.
With the help of rational maximizer style,
a.   Logical thinking is promoted
b.   Objectivity in decision making gets optimum importance
c.   Problem situation as well as solution of the problem are effectively presented to higher authorities.
d.   Elaboration takes place properly and accepted by the majority
