in your own words please.

Imagine you are the Executive Director of a Fortune 500 company, overseeing a cultural diversity program and you are responsible for working with employees who have experienced a dispute as a result of cultural differences. What steps would you take to mediate between these employees? If you were asked to prepare training so that this can be avoided in the future, what kinds of legal, social, and economic environments on policies and procedures would you include in this training? Explanation / Answer

Imagine you are the Executive Director of a Fortune 500 company, overseeing a cultural diversity program and you are responsible for working with employees who have experienced a dispute as a result of cultural differences.

What steps would you take to mediate between these employees?

I would need first to hear both sides of the story from the employees and then I would sit down with their immediate manager, as a fortune 500 company we should be leading by example and diversity is something to be proud on big companies because diversity fosters innovation. The manager clearly didn’t know how to handle the situation and he should be asked to resign from his job.

The people involved on the dispute will be given the opportunity to realize their mistake and make peace with the other as long as they are committed to not enter on this kind of dispute again.

If you were asked to prepare training so that this can be avoided in the future, what kinds of legal, social, and economic environments on policies and procedures would you include in this training? Feel free to use the web to find sources which address these.

On this training which should be mandatory for all of the employees at the company we should include the laws that prohibited racism based on cultural backgrounds which is included on Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

We need our employees to know that we embrace diversity and even though no one is required to be best friends with their team members, we do expect to keep a professional relationship.

A cero tolerance policy against racism and discrimination should be implemented, any employee who violates the policy will be terminated immediately.

I would also invite a member of the U.S Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to discuss the details about what the agency does and the laws that are related to the agency that could affect our place of work.
