How do you reply to the below discussion post?
I think when using the queuing analysis/theory while planning Logistics distribution missions is very important, you have to plan the entire process in order to not loose client/customers, because one of the worse things a company or manufacture can do, is to have a customer to wait for a deliverer or a pickup, just simply waiting to be served by a service or a manufacturing facility is not good, this results to having a dissatisfied customer. When using this theory in the Logistics world it helps to ensure that you have the right amount of space to house the product and the right amount of employees at the location to distribute.
Explanation / Answer
I agree with the blog. Queuing analysis helps in analyzing the delays of waiting in line and analyzing the congestions. It is used to determine more efficient queuing systems which will reduce the waiting times of the customers. In logistics, queuing analysis helps in coordinating the contradictions that exists between costs of logistics service and costs related to customers waiting. The theory helps in achieving a reasonable allocation of equipment and personnel. Reasonable allocation of equipment and personnel will be done in order to efficiently reach the customer, improve the service level. Queuing theory also helps in warehouse optimization in terms of the size and capacity of the warehouse. Process solution in terms of lines of services is determined. Once this is done the number of items entering the system will be less than the number of being served per unit of time.
The reasonable allocation of equipment and personnel and warehouse optimization will also ensure that there is right amount of space to house the product and the right amount of employees at the location to distribute. All this will eventually help an organization attract more customers.
