Before the arrival of Web services technology, integration was about defining interfaces and making sure that systems correctly implemented or invoked those special-purpose interfaces.
As the foundation of Web services technology matures, it becomes clearer how they will be able to achieve the ultimate goal of dynamic B2B integration and as the technological landscape becomes cluttered with acronyms and different standards, it might seem that the original goal of dynamic B2B integration may take long to achieve. Truth is however that most challenges have been already identified such as negotiation, contracting, security, matchmaking, monitoring, composition, and coordination.
There is not much more to wait on the way toward supporting dynamic B2B integration, if only one is able to sort out and combine the available contributions in Web service technology --> the purpose is to introduce a full life cycle approach, showing how Web services can support every phase of business collaborations, from the time business partners search for each other to the time they perform and evaluate their interactions. The concept of having a life cycle, which requires different integration mechanisms across different life cycle phases is known since the beginning of enterprise integration as a discipline.

At the very outset it is important to note that the term Web Services has been defined in many ways but the most commonly being understood and used world over describes it as a standardized way of INTEGRATING web-based applications. These applications are having very wide spectrum and may be using the XML, SOAP, WSDL, and UDDI open standards over an internet protocol backbone. Examples of web-services may be in termd of taging the data, identification and generation of data and information followed by transfer of data from one platform to other , adding value to data infomation, converting or processing the information into knowledge and finally using for taking decisions. Web services allow organizations to communicate irrespective of operating systems and or programming languages without having an intimate knowledge of each other's Information Technology Systems.
The concept of life cycle goes through the phases of incubation, birth or the beginning or starting or initiation phase. It is about, to have the knowledge regarding existence of some potential relationalships between the business entities that can be developed by using web services and as mentioned above web services are independent of individual company's IT systems. The next phase of negotiation and contracting is the growth phase in the life cycle of dynamic B2B integration followed by the stage of maturity that talks about security, matchmaking and monitoring. This phase may continued in terms of better composition and co-ordination or otherwise takes to a new birth of B2B relationship with the decline phase leading to death in the life cycle concept.
