Project Background
Students are required to develop and plan the global supply chain operations for a particular
product(s) of their choice. The product (s) must be within the Life Science, Technology, Engineering
or Manufacturing industry.
Students should select an industry/product where they have access to information such as contacts
that can provide interviews and good secondary sources. Students may work independently or
partner with one other student.
The purpose is to give you a real world example and is to be an exciting project that is developed
throughout the course. Throughout the course you will have the opportunity to share your progress
with the other students and get feedback.
Company Characteristics
A. A small group of professionals (funded by a VC in SF) have started a company in the US
that will market, sell and distribute goods to foreign markets. The company acquires
materials and performs light assembly duties for the final sale of customized products.
B. The strategic vision is to provide a product that can’t be bought in any store but is
customized that is offered at a lower price vs. fully custom built products.
C. Selection of an industry; Life Science, Technology or Engineering and manufacturing
industry.
D. Selection of a product (s); It must be an existing product that is currently being sold in the
market place (car parts, PC’s, medical devices etc.).
E. What type of customization will be performed for the final customer.
F. The products are sold on-line and through local distribution companies
G. Emerging markets are your target areas and is expected to sell more than 10,000 units the
first month of operating and growth rates are expected at over 35% the first year
H. Your job is to set up the operations of the company and report directly to the executive
team and shareholders your recommendations.
Example: Your company purchases smartphones and then performs customization by
putting together a package that includes extras power cords, high-end earphones and
portable stereo speakers. It is also set-up as plug and play. Your end customer is the
professional type who does not want to waste time in purchasing all the different
accessories or the phone itself. These are then sold at major airports and hotels around the
world in either kiosks or specialty stores. Samsung, LG and Apple like the idea as it is an
additional channel to sell their products and agreed to partner with you.

- Yes customization is necessarily required. Because these products are common everywhere. Available with all doctors. If we see the present working style of human being its more seating at one place. Also its very hectic .People are not getting time to check the periodic health checkup.
So we are designing the instruments in such way that it can be used anywhere may be at work locations, may be at family or else.
This creativity enables us to capture the market because handy to use. Also we are making available these products at low cost.
3. Countries that you wish to do business in and how much you plan to sell

1) Focus on corporate , private , Government , Semi government employees

5) In these country the outsourcing work from Developed countries is very huge.So employees are working in day , night KPO ,BPO. Because of that employee are facing issues of health.In such crucial situation such cheap medical devices will help them."
