b. The people you interact and work with.

c. The activities you’re involved in.

Explanation / Answer

1. Yes its true that not all leaders are reflective by nature and are seldom thoughtful. However, leadership can further be developed through experience. A leader can apply his/her experiences in the form of actions and observations. The spiral of experience is perhaps the most productive way that leadership can be developed. However, people rely on their experience more in the form of actions (i.e. what did the person do) and observations (observing the consequences of one's actions). Reflection allows a person to answer the question - how do you look at your actions? Now, many effective leaders draws on the events that have happened to them and how they perceive those events. Thus, they tend to substitute the requirement of reflection with perception and then augment the perception with their actions and observations.

2a. The action-observation-reflection model is a useful framework to hone leadership skills. My professional experiences can be divided into action, observation and reflection. As a professional executive i have to act, then observe the effects and consequences of my actions. This will allow me to hone my leadership skills. Moreover reflection on how actions could be changed or how i feel about the actions now will provide me with a fresh perspective.

b. The people that I interact and work with will enrich my perception. Further, the people I interact with will give me a sense of connection and will enable me to graduate from single loop learning to double loop learning. Single loop learning limits my scope of learning by confining me within my comfort zone. However, double loop learning will be developed through meaningful interaction. This will benefit me as an openness to information will take place in me and I will be willing to learn by stepping out of my comfort zone.

c. The activities that I am involved me will also enrich my leadership experiences. Various actions are challenging tasks and involves creative thinking. The activities can challenge my intellectual strength and capacity. It will allow me to think creatively in certain situations. Thus different activities will help me develop and enhance my maturity, intellectual capability and ability to think creatively.
