Nike launched a footwear energy efficiency program with five contract manufacturers in 2008 in which it collaborated the contract factories to bring down the absolute CO2 to 6 percent despite a 9 percent increase in production. Company launched a platform called GreenXchnage for sharing all kinds of environmentally friendly innovative techniques to create the products and licensing patents. This has given many ideas to be practically implemented in the design and raw material sourcing.
