Worldwide demand for energy rises. Texas has the resources to help meet the demand, but energy companies throughout the industry are worried about their employment levels. They cannot find enough employees willing to work on an oil rig, a pumpjack, or in the fracking sands, to keep up with demand. They are paying up to $50 per hour, but job postings remain unfilled and interviews reveal a workforce ill-equipped for the job. The added revenue for the state that these industries are expected to bring in is about $15 billion. Why should you help the energy companies solve this problem? How would you go about helping them?

To meet the demands of the energy throughout the world, energy companies need manpower. But there seemed to be a lot of attrition rate in this industry. Also, there are huge vacancies in those jobs, since people are not ready to fill those vacant jobs.

The very first step is to analyze the situation by knowing the concerns of the people. Addressing those concerns and combating with those issues could help improve the situation. Few ways which i feel should be emphasized on are -

1) Increase the pay - If the pay of $50 per hour is not satisfying the employees, increase the pay. After all, a lot of revenue can be generated through them. So, increasing the pay and making it lucrative is one way to attract people to work with the company

2) Increasing the additional health benefits - if people feel their health gets deteriorated by working at oil rigs or pump jack's or in the franking sands. Then its time to revamp the health benefit packages and compensations.

3) Train the unskilled - If the company feels there is a gap between the skilled and unskilled, and the unskilled workers are ready to work on the jobs then ensure that they get required training and support from the organization to work on the jobs

4) Getting people from other regions - By getting the contract labor from the other regions and placing them on the jobs by giving them the initial on the job training.

5) Job satisfaction - Even a ten-hour laborious work need job satisfaction. Without which a person will not show bare minimum interest to work. Hence, job satisfaction is very important in such jobs.

6) Employee motivation & empowerment - Motivating and empowering people to work on the jobs by giving them a certain level of flexibility will be a plus point

7) Giving bonus benefits to those who stay for a certain period in years - Fixing up a time period, and all those who shall stay with the company for those years shall be given certain benefits.

8) Rewarding employees - Employees get motivated and would prefer staying on the job if they are motivated to the core. Rewarding and appreciating them will boost the confidence of the employees working in the company.
