How would you agree or disagree with the following post? ........ As a Sr. Operation Manager, I am the go-between of 28 managers’ communication to assistant vice president. I also have a team of fifteen representatives that I must ensure the line of communication is open and welcomed. Therefore, it is important that a two-way communication exist. Leaders must create and maintain a two-way communication by being truthful, patient, and nonjudgmental in their communication with subordinates (Manning and Curtis, 2012). By doing these things, there can be a level of balance communication and respect. The structure of how bonuses would be paid out was recently changed. Representatives and managers were called in conference room with another team, which puts some possible restraints on the communications. In the meeting, There was little detailed explanation of why and how exactly this would go forth. The approach by the assistant vice president was a directive not informative. This made employees standoffish and questioned the honesty of the AVP. Initially employees were told that this restructure would only affect them 2 to 3 times a year. And, it would not be a big deal. However since March, the employees have been affected by the restructure. Even after many complaints made to the VP and AVP, there was no follow up communications made available to those with concern. The VP made demeaning and nonchalante comments to employees which made employees cut off their communication to upper management. This is characteristics and examples of how one-way communication works within an organization. Psychological size has affected my organization in positive and negative ways. The positive ways is when the upper management is supporting downwards, which are managers and employees (Manning and Curtis, 2012). I noticed the atmosphere in my site was a lot more free flowing, team building, and communicating from all levels within when the two-way communications was balanced properly. Employees felt upper management cared beyond the tasks of the job. Because being a great leader doesn’t relate to giving orders but gaining trust and commitment (Berry, 2014). Finally, negative effects can result from psychological sizes within an organization. This happens when management are not seem trustworthy, accountable, nor having the best interest of employees. Lack of communication can make employees feel not needed and give the wrong impression. The employees can be working to support the upper management’s goals but if in return the employees are being disrespected or talked down it will destroy confidence. Explanation / Answer

I completely agree with the communication part. Any organization should maintain a very healthy communication with its employees. The communication should be a two way communication or a to sided communication. A one sided communication will always create ripples in the organization. It also effects the employees psychologically. Hence an effective two sided communication is a very important aspect of a healthy working culture of an organization.

When an organization restructures, that has to be communicated to its employees on what takes it to restructure. If that is not communicated, then that creates unnecessary tensions among the employees and that psychologically effects them in a big way. This in turn affects the employee morale too. Hence to avoid all this, an effective communication is an integral part of an organization.
