then you will have a smaller mass than that of the original

The formula of recovery goes as:

No mol of Copper = mass of Copper recovered / Molar Mass of Copper

since Molar MAss of copper is constant, then mass of COpper will be lower, since not all mass was recovered

Expect the number of moles be LOWER than that in reality

d)

If you do not get rid of ALL the water, i.e. those forming the crystals, then the total mass of Copper will be higher, since those are attached to water
