For example uning UV-Visible spectrophotometer one can record the aborbance for different concentration samples.

Thus graph of concentration verses those obatin absorbance for different samples is the callibration curve.

From the Beer law we know that the absorbance of the sample is directly proportion to its concentration.

After ploting the graph the best fit line equation is obtain.

In above eg. we have equation: Y= 1.09X + 0.02

where Y= Absorbance for above example or it may be the value of instrument responce.

Depending on the graph ploted the unit of Y may change, but in above example Y= aborbance which is unitless.

X represents the concentration.

Unit of X is mol per liter (molL-1)
