Question

Please help me I Have no idea what to do

Recall the reactions for this lab:
S2O82- + 2I- 2SO42- + I2 (slow) Reaction 1
The one that delays the solution turning blue:
I2 + 2S2O32- 2I- + S4O62-    (fast) Reaction 2
b. All the S2O32 is consumed when the color change occurs. Therefore,

[S2O32] =

c. Use the stoichiometry of Reactions 1 and 2 to determine the change in concentration of
S2O82- during the same time period.
[S2O82-] =

d. Assuming the reaction took 75 seconds, calculate the rate of the reaction [S2O82-]/t.
Rate of reaction = [S2O82- ]/t =

Explanation / Answer

A) This is the iodometric titration of thiosulphate to determine the concenteration of thiosulphate solution

B) Yes theoretically all thiosulphate is used and hence the end point is obtained. Basically thiosulphate is a reducing agent and reduces iodide to iodine . It does so till all the iodide is coverted into iodine. since thiosulphate is in the conical during titration hence it does so till all of it is utilised.

C) -[S2O32] = -1/2[I-]/t

D) Insufficient Imformation
