2.) Adding oil increases the magnification of a microscope, allowing us to see small objects better.

1.) Peptidoglycan is required for happy, healthy bacteria.
2.) Adding oil increases the magnification of a microscope, allowing us to see small objects better.

Explanation / Answer
1.) Peptidoglycan is required for happy, healthy bacteria.
The peptidoglycan layer (cell wall) offers protection to the bacteria so it can survive happily, but it can stay healthy without peptidoglycan too. Gram negative bacteria contain very less or no peptidoglycan layer but still they can happily survive because other structural facilities such as phopsholipids, lipoproteins in their membrane, their ability to develop resistance by different mechanisms etc. make the bacteria grow better.
2.) Adding oil increases the magnification of a microscope, allowing us to see small objects better.
Adding a little oil helps to improve the magnification, but too much of oil make it blurred.
