Around one out of 10 stillbirths are caused by infection. Commonly it is caused by a kind of bacterial infection that got passed from mother’s vagina to her womb (fetus).
(a) Some of the bacteria that can cause the infection are streptococcus,E.coli,enterococcus, influenza, chlamydia, and mycoplasma.
Some of them such as mycoplasma and chlamydia are sexually transmitted infections, they can be prevented using barrier contraception.
(b) GBS or Group B streptococcus is a common bacterial group that causes problem during pregnancy
(c) Microbe from GBS group is Streptococcus agalactiae.
(d) It has been found that several strains of group B Streptococcus agalactiae, showed lethality in adult rats. Heat killed bacteria shows rapid death within 14 to 18 hours. They mainly hampered the breathing process and caused hemolyzed serum and several hemorrhages.
