Question
I cant seem to understand how to finish the calculations on question 2 and 3. plus everything ive seen for help shows a different answer for number 1. Any help is appreciated.
Explanation / Answer
For question 2, we have .069=X/(0.05-X) or, 1.069X=0.00345(By cross multiplying) Thus X=0.00345/1.069=0.003227
For question 3, we have 0.069=2X/(0.05-X) or, 2.069X=0.00345 (By cross multiplying) Thus X=0.00345/2.069=0.001667
Calculation showing that for optimizing extraction less amount of solvent should be used for multiple times rather than extracting the compound single time with more solvent.
