Guys please help me solve this!!! I'm running very short on time!!! LAB SECTION DATE ENERCISE 14 Pre-Laboratory Assignment For each step in the qualitative analysis scheme indicated, write a balanced net ionic equation associated with a positive test for a given ion. You must include the state of cach species in the equation. Some examples are included for your reference. You must give this report to your instructor for review before starting the experiment. The instructor will return it to you, and you must then turn it in with your final report. L Ammonia gas detection via litmus paper. Analysis of Group A: 1. Formation of iron thiocyanate coordination complex (no equation required) 2. oxidation of manganese: M n Mn ott- Net ionic equation for reaction of Mn? Mn (ou), -y Mn 21 OH t 165Explanation / Answer
1. Ammonia gas detection
Equation is NH3(g) + H2O(l) ==> NH4OH (aq)
So, net ionic equation is : NH3(g) + H2O (l) ===> NH4+ (aq) + OH-(aq)
And the positive test using litmus paper is as follows: Wet the red litmus paper. Allow the gas fumes to come in contact with the paper ( take the paper near the mouth of the test tube/beaker where the reaction is taking place). It will turn Blue.
Have a nice day!:)
