The molecule in left side is D-aldopentose.

Sincethere are two sterecentre, stereocentre near by CH2OH is considered for D or L configuration. In the above image OH group near CH2OH is on right sides as that in D glyceraldehyde

The molecule on right side in above image is cyclic. Thus it may have alpha or beta configuration. Alpha means OH and CH2OH group s are trans while in beta OH and CH2OH groups are cis.
