Question
NMR:
Calculate the theoretical yield of alkene mixture and determine de % yield based on the weight of the product mixture. Using the NMR spectrum calculate the % of 2-methyl-1-butene and the % of 2-methyl-2-butene present in the mixture.
Mixture weight: 7.83g
Alkene mixture:

Looking at the mixture weight, looks like the quantity of starting material is 10grams.
So, moles of starting material present = mass/molar mass = 10g/88.15g/mol = 0.1134moles
So, mass of product mixture to be formed = moles x molar mass = 0.1134moles x 70.14g/mol = 7.96grams
So, theortical yield = 7.96grams.
%yield = (Observed yield/theoretical yield) x 100 = (7.83/7.96) x 100 = 98.4%
Need to know about the integrals of the peaks to calculate % alkenes present.
Have a nice day! :)
