Question

Question 25 The conversion of glucose into glucose 6-phosphate in the breakdown of glucose is thermodynamically unfavorable. Cells overcome the problem by this approach: Question 26 The inorganic phosphate is absolutely required for glycolysis because of the following reason: (Be specific about the reaction involved) Question 27 Among the compounds that regulate the activity of phosphofructokinase 1 is fructose 2,6-bisphosphate which acts as an (inhibitor or activator) Question 28 State the role of hormone sensitive (such as to glucagon) triacylglycerol lipase. Question 29 Deamination of alanine converts alanine to this molecule (name):

Explanation / Answer

Question 25;

the conversion of glucose to glucose 6 phosphate is thermodynamic unfavorable reaction , but the reaction occurs because it is coupled with energitically favored reaction . it uses the ATP for the reaction to occur , Glucose cannot directly react with phopshate molecule instead it reacts with ATP to form ADP and glucose 6 phosphate ,this reaction is most favored thermodynamically with free energy of -30.5 kj, ATP drives the phospharylation reaction much effectively .

Question 26;

the reaction occur where the glyceraldehyde uses the inorganic phosphate instead of ATP because it conserve the high energy phosphate bond and energy is realeased form the reaction .it also act as a source of phosphoryl group .

Question 27;

fructose 2,6 bisphosphate act as a activator for phosphofructo kinase and it allosterically inhibhitor for the ATp molecule . it plays a very important role in glycolysis and gluconeogensis . it activates the phosphofructokinase 1 by increasing its affinity towards fructose 6 phosphate .

Question 28;

the hormone sensitive lipase helps in hydrolysis of stored triglycerides . it helps in moblization of stored fats .but it is inhibhited by the hormone insulin .

Question 29;

deamination of alanine produces the stable alkyl free radicle .if it occurs through the transaminase it produce pyruvate molecule
