Given the starting material and the Kc identify the number of molecules of reactant and product observed for each reaction. Assume the toal number of Aand B molecules atequilibrium is the same as the initial number shown. How many product molecules are observed in reaction (a)? How many product molecules are observed in reaction (b)? Select a subject so we can find the right chegg Expert Engineering Computer science Finance Advanced Physics Ovil Engineering operations ManagementExplanation / Answer
(a)
Initial number of molecules of A = 30
At equilibiruim,
number of molecules of A = 30 - x
number of molecules of B = x
Then,
Kc = [Product]/[Reactant]
5.0 = x / (30-x)
150 - 5x = x
6x = 150
x = 150/6
x = 25
So, at equilibrium,
Number of molecules of A = 30 - x = 30 - 25 = 5
and number of molecules of B = 25
(b)
At equilibrium, number of molecules of A = 30 -x and B = x
Kc = [Product]/[Reactant]
0.50 = x / (30 - x)
15 - 0.5 x = x
1.5x = 15
x = 10
So, at equilibrium number of molecules of A = 30 - 10 = 20
numberr of molecules of B = 10
