Question

In the periodic table the horizontal rows that extend across the table are called Name the elements that Carbon has properties most similar to: Explain why Lithium, Potassium, and Sodium have similar properties: An element has mass number of 32 and an atomic number 16. How many atom of this element have? An element has an atomic number of 36 and an atomic mass of 84. How an atom of this element have? The nucleus of an atom contains 13 protons. To be electrically neutral Which of these sets of atomic numbers represents a group?

Explanation / Answer

Ans 11:-In the periodic table the horrizontal rows which extend downward are called geoups or the continous moving towards right hand side clled rows or periods. All the elements have same property in a group due to having same outermost electronic configuration. Like the general electronic configuration of group one is ns1. It means all the elements present in group one has only one electron in its outermost shell. Where n denotes the number of period in which elements present.

Ans 12:- Carbon has similar property to silicon which is a non metal and germanium which is the mettaloid because all of these are present in same group i.e. group 14. All of these have same outermost electronic configuration i.e. ns2np2. Which represent that carbon sillicon and geanium all are p block element because their last electron enters in the p subshell.

Ans 13:- Lithium Sodium potassium all of these have same properties because all of these three elemts belong to group one. It means all have same outermost electronic configuration like ns1. These are also called as alkali metals.

Ans 14:- The atomic mass of element is 32 and atomic number is 16 it means this element has 16 protons ieans it is silicon. And it has only one atom because 32 is the atomic mass of silicon.
