Don't forget about significant figures and proper scientific notation. Student performing an experiment PROP 410. The diameter of capillary tubing r is 0.0300 cm. and height of the water inside the tubing h = 53.70 cm Total volume of the flask is 250.0 mL. 30.0 mL of water have been added to the flask. Calculate the system volume. b) Balloon with volume 0 63 L is filled with helium. The pressure of the system is 1.4 aim. Balloon has been squeezed. Calculate the volume of the balloon if the pressure after squeezing the balloon is 1.6 atm. Temperature is constant.

Explanation / Answer

dia of capillary, d= 0.03 cm and height of water h= 53.7 cm

volume of water= (*PI/4)*d2*h= 0.038 cc=0.038ml

water added= 30ml volume of water= 30+0.038=30.038 ml

2. given V1= 0.63L ( initial volume of ballon), P1= 1.4 atm, after squeezing, P2= 1.6 atm, since P1V1= P2V2 ( at constant temperature and for a given mass of gas ) V2= P1V1/P2= 1.4*0.63/1.6=0.55 L
