Question

Question 1- On low-power, you can see three markings of a millimeter ruler in the field of view.

What is the diameter of the field of view when you use the high-dry objective lens?

Question 2- Nursery rhymes are propagated from parent to child over many generations (thus keeping otherwise obsolete words such as "tuffet" and "chamber" in use), sometimes with associated actions, songs, and movements. How many of the properties of living organsims does a nursery rhyme share? In what ways is it similar to living systems, especially living systems that are pathogenic; Staphylococcus aureus for example? Can you think of an equivalent to the obsolete word concept that we see in What properties do nursery rhymes not have, and in what ways are they dissimñar to living systems?

Explanation / Answer

QUESTION 1.

If you know the diameter of the fov at one magnification, you can determine the diameter of fov at another magnification with the following formula:

diameter of fov#2 = diameter of fov#1 x magnification#1 divided by magnification#2

For example, if you know the diameter of fov at 100x magnification, the diameter of the fov
at 1000x magnification = 1.78mm x 100 divided by 1000 = 0.178 mm or 178 micrometers.

so in our case the diameter of fov of 'X' magnification is 3mm, hence fov at 'Y' magnification (using high-dry lens) will be

at 'Y'magnification = 3mm multiply by 'X'magnification divided by 'Y'magnification

Question 2:

Properties of nursery rhymes shared by living organisms are adaptation, modificaions, evolutions and the same way hereditary characters are propogated from parent to child as in nursery rhymes.

As nursery rhymes are passed onto generations through story telling, singing and by listening so are pathogenic organisms transferred and propogated via air, breathing and sometimes contact with the infected person.

Living organisms are made up of several organs and some of them have become vestigeal as they are no longer used example appendix and this is euqivalent to obsolete word concept.

Living systems are mortal however nursery rhymes has been passed on for generations and they are immortal.
