Complete the following tables using your data from lab. Calculate the mass of product formed after heating using correct dimensional analysis. Calculate the mass of water in the original sample using correct dimensional analysis. Calculate the percent (by mass) of water in the original sample using correct dimensional analysis. Calculate the percent (by mass) of salt in the original sample using correct dimensional analysis. Determine the identity of your unknown hydrate.__

Explanation / Answer

2) Mass of product after = mass of crucible ,lid and sample - mass of empty crucible and lid

         = 25.3719 g - 22.9201 = 2.4518 g

3) mass of water = mass of crucible with unheated salt - mass of crucible with heated salt

              = 25.7968g - 25.3719g = 0.4249 g

4) % of water by mass = ( 100 x water mass) / ( unheated sample mass)

       = ( 100 x 0.4249g / 25.7968 g) = 1.6471 %

5) Salt mass % = 100 - water mass %   = 100 - 1.6471 % = 98.3529 %

6) regarding the knowing unknow hydrate we must check the related table of colours of hydrous and anahydrous salts ( since table is not given here , I am unable to give the identity of compound)
