Question
I need help with question 4-6.
4(2points) What is the molarity of a solution that is 11ml to which 11g of Baso, is added. 5 (5 points) There is H3PO, available in stock solution that has an assay of 87% and a density (specific gravity) of 1.24. What is the molarity of this solution? Using this solution how would 1 Lof 2N solution be made. 6 (5 points) HBO, is needed to neutralize 40 ML of a 4N solution of NaOH. How much of the acid should I put in 40 ML of the water to exactly neutralize this solution?Explanation / Answer
4)
Molar mass of BaSO4,
MM = 1*MM(Ba) + 1*MM(S) + 4*MM(O)
= 1*137.3 + 1*32.07 + 4*16.0
= 233.37 g/mol
mass(BaSO4)= 11 g
number of mol of BaSO4,
n = mass of BaSO4/molar mass of BaSO4
=(11.0 g)/(233.37 g/mol)
= 4.714*10^-2 mol
volume , V = 11 mL
= 1.1*10^-2 L
Molarity,
M = number of mol / volume in L
= 4.714*10^-2/1.1*10^-2
= 4.3 M
Answer: 4.3 M
