Explanation / Answer

C)

we have the Balanced chemical equation as:

Mn + O2 ---> MnO2

1 mol of Mn reacts with 1 mol of O2

for 26.5 mol of Mn, 26.5 mol of O2 is required

But we have 42.8 mol of O2

so, Mn is limiting reagent

we will use Mn in further calculation

From balanced chemical reaction, we see that

when 1 mol of Mn reacts, 1 mol of MnO2 is formed

mol of MnO2 formed = (1/1)* moles of Mn

= (1/1)*26.5

= 26.5 mol

Answer: 26.5 mol
