(i tried attaching a picture, it must have not worked). HERE IT IS: A plastic piece was being analyzed by floatation methods. The piece of plastic was suspended in a solution which had an equivalent density. 8.26 mL of this solution were placed into a measuring device that had an empty mass of 43.33 g. The new mass of the device and solution was 52.17 g. Use this information and determine the density of the plastic (same as that of solution).

I have a sheet with the different plastics and their densities on it, so depending on the answer i can probably figure that out on my own.

empty mass of the device = 43.33 gm

empty mass of the device + mass of the solution = 52.17 gm

so, mass of the solution = 52.17 gm - 43.33 gm = 8.84 gm

volume of the solution = 8.26 ml

now, density = mass / volume = 8.84 gm / 8.26 ml = 1.07 gm/ml

so, the density of the plastic = 1.07 gm/ml
