In this disease, the coronary arteries become thickened due to deposition of a waxy plague inside them. The condition is called as artherosclerosis, and advances with age. Because age cannot be reduced, so, it is diffucult to treat the disorder. Due to artherosclerosis, oxygen rich blood supply does not reach the heart.
The best treatment strategy is prevention. The patient should be advised a healthy lifestyle. He should adopt light exercise, low oil diet, no alcohol and no smoking. This means that lifestyle changes are the only treatment for CHD.
An important part of the treatment is disallowing clot formation in the blood, because clot may lead to angina or heart attack.
