Conclusion (10 pts) The conclusion should be a short (5-10 sentences) paragraph that answers the objective of the other words, for this experiment, the conclusion should summarize the following The factors that can be used to change the rate of this redox reaction. Which factors are more effective? Which are less effective? Explain your reasoning. Could some or all the factors you found to affect the reaction rate have been predicted from knowing only the overall reaction? Explain your reasoning . rin References Abraham, M. R.; Pavelich, M. J. Explanation / Answer

1) There is reaction between KMnO4 and water it gives purple color of permangnate ions.Also there is reaction between KMnO4 and H2SO4 it will give dark red color which after sometime converts into brown color. From all the reactants given reaction is possible, as oxalic acid react with KMnO4 and gives orange color and it requires acidic medium to occur so sulphuric acid is necessary and it releases hydrogen ion.

2) In this reaction, oxalic acid get oxidised and pottasium permangnate reduced. An acidic solution is necessary because the redox reaction consumes H+ ion.

MnO-4 + (C2O4)2- ------------> Mn2+ + CO2 (acidic medium)

There are too many oxygens on the left side, that's why acid comes in. The extra hydrogen react with extra oxygen in the permanganate to produce water. On increasing the concentration of hydrogen ion it will increase rate of reaction.

3) On increasing the concentration of oxalic acid, does not affect the rate of reaction.

4) On increasing the temperature of the reaction , increases the rate of reaction. As on increasing the temperature, solublity of permangante ions increases so it will increases the formation of permangnate ions which will increase the rate of reaction.
