A glass with 296 mL(10n. oz.) of apple juice has 180. Cal. If 150. of those Cal are from fructose, what is the molarity of the fructose (180.16 g/mol) in the juice solution? Assume all numbers are significant to the ones place. M fructose 6:33 PM Type here to search 1/26/2018

Explanation / Answer

100 grams of fructose gives 368 cal

So the amount of fructose that gives 150 cal will be :

= ( 150 x 100) / 368

= 40.76 grams

Number of moles of fructose = given mass / molar mas

= 40.76 / 180.16

= 0.226 mol

Molarity = no. of moles of fructose / volume of solution in L

so putting all the values we get :

= 0.226 / 0.296

= 0.764 M fructose
