Which methods are used to treat water for biological contaminants such as bacteria?Explanation / Answer
Water purification by using aluminium hydroxide floccules of insoluble particulates
1. The mass of aluminium metal decreases when it reacts to form aluminium hydroxide in solution. The total decrease in the mass can be used to calculate the amount of aluminium reacting and the aluminium hydroxide formed.
2. The most effective method for cleaning particulates present in water here is formmation of aluminium hydroxde which can be easily filtered off from the solution once formed. For cleaning city's drinking water is by aluminium method. This is the quickest and most efficient method present to clean water at low costs.
3. For the removal of dissolved contaminants present in the city's water supply, we have employed the charcoal treatment. Charcoal can easily adsorb soluble contaminants on its surface and this may then be filterted off easily.
4. Removal of biological contaminants from water such as bacteria can be easily done by using chlorine as the disinfecting agent. The method is very effective and carefull addition of the reagent must be done to clean the water of any volume. This is one of the most used method everywhere.
