Question
My disease is breast cancer This week, we are talking about nanoparticles that perform two or more functions in the body. Your challenge is to think about how to design a multi-modal nanoparticle for your disease of interest. Think about what is the strongest clinical need - should you develop a nanoparticle that treats your disease at the same time in two different ways (e. g. synergistic treatment)? Or would you like to be able to diagnose and treat a disease at the same time (e. g. theranostic nanoparticles?) Or do you need a more robust way to measure whether a treatment is working (treatment monitoring)? Please explain the biological problem you are trying to solve and how you would go about designing one or more nanoformulations to solve this problem. And remember, you are welcome to use the literature for ideas!Explanation / Answer
To cure disease like Breast cancer, one can think of using tageted drug delivery which can more precisely act like ligand receptor binding. Gold nanoparticles could be the best in the lot owing to their unique characteristics, including their enhanced permeability and retention in tumor tissue, their light absorbance and surface plasmon resonance in near-infrared light, their interaction with radiation to generate secondary electrons, and their ability to be conjugated with drugs or other agents. In disease like cancer, time plays a very important role. Should there be any delay in the treament, it could cost a lady's life. To treat it in much faster way, best bet is always to look for efficient and faster delivery of drug.
