Question
Hello,
my question is "we are talking about nanoparticles that perform two or more functions in the body. Your challenge is to think about how to design a multi-modal nanoparticle for your disease of interest. Think about what is the strongest clinical need – should you develop a nanoparticle that treats your disease at the same time in two different ways (e.g. synergistic treatment)? Or would you like to be able to diagnose and treat a disease at the same time (e.g.theranostic nanoparticles?) Or do you need a more robust way to measure whether a treatment is working (treatment monitoring)? Please explain the biological problem you are trying to solve and how you would go about designing one or more nanoformulations to solve this problem."
My disease is breast canser

Explanation / Answer
My interest of biological problem is cancer, and its treatment with herbal medicine. If we are able to deliver nano-particles that act in two different ways to control the proliferation, we can reduce the dose of each ingredient to the maximum extent and at the same time, we can derive maximum benefit, as these drugs act in different ways. Means if the defective cell escapes at one site, the other drug can attack the cell at another site. For example, turmeric is well known for its anti-cancer activity, and ginger acts synergistically to turmeric. So, preparing the blend of nano-particles containing turmeric and ginger (layer by layer release) might be helpful to better control the disease.
