He takes 10 minutes to complete the first delivery, 1 hour to complete the all the deliveries, and 20 min to come back to the depot. The first delivery is located 4 miles from the depot, and his last delivery is 20 miles from the depot. Answer the following questions:
a) what is the displacement of the truck driver after 10 minutes? After 1 hour? And after 1 hour and 20 minutes?
b) what is the distance traveled by the drive in 1 hour and 20 minutes?
c) What is the drivers average speed during the 10 minutes? And during the first hour? And during the first 1 hour and 20 minutes?
May you please show me step-by-step calculation on how you get the answers please. I am begging you.
Explanation / Answer
a)
After 10 minutes he has completed his 1st delivery which was located 4 miles from depot
So, displacement after 10 minutes is 4 miles
After 1 hour he has completed his last delivery which was located 20 miles from depot
So, displacement after 1 hour is 20 miles
After 1 hr 20 min he is back at the depot. This is from where he started. So
net displacemennt = 0
b)
He started delivered all package and returned
to deliver all package distance = 20 miles
to coma back also he need to cover another 20 miles
So total distance = 20 + 20 = 40 miles
c)
average speed = distance travelled / time taken
for 10 mins:
distance = 4 miles
t = 10 minutes = 10/60 hr
avg speed = distance / time = 4/10/ 60 hr = 4*60/10 = 24 miles/hr
for 1st hour:
distance = 20 miles
t = 1 hr
avg speed = distance / time = 20/1 = 20 miles/hr
for 1hr20 min:
distance = 40 miles
t = 1 hr + 20 min = 1 hr + 20/60 hr = 4/3 hr
avg speed = distance / time = 40/(4/3) = 40*3/4 = 30 miles/hr
