Need help with this problem steps by steps. This is genetics course.
1. In the mice, the following traits are observed.
-Coat color is affected by a gene with two alleles, c for cinnamon and C for black. Black is dominant to cinnamon.
- The pattern of color is controlled by a gene two alleles, b for belted and B for solid color. Solid is dominant to belted.
-The morphology of the whiskers is controlled by a gene with two alleles w for curly whiskers and W for strait whiskers. The three genes are assort independently.
Mice of a true-breeding black, solid, straight whiskers strain were crossed with mice of a cinnamon, belted, curly whiskers strain. The F1 generation wwas then testcrossed to the cinnamon, belted, curly whiskers strain. What phenotypes will be observed in the progeny of this trihybrid testcross? Use the forked-line method to find your answer. Note: you only need to give the phenotypes so dont make it harder than it has to be.
Explanation / Answer
In the F2 generation, 8 different phenotypes in equal proportion are obtained.
