True or False? Please give a short 1 to 2 sentences on why you think it would be true or false. There are three main types of primary bonding: ionic, covalent and metallic, and their energies generally range from 1 to 10 eV/atom. There are two types of secondary bonding: van der Walls and hydrogen, and the later is important in macromolecules (polymers). Secondary bonds have energies that are usually fractions of an eV/atom. Bond energies are generally independent of temperature. Thermal and electrical conduction are mainly accomplished by the movement of electrons in the valence and/or conduction bands in materials. Glass is transparent because the valence electrons are tightly bound to the atoms and not excited out of the bonds by photons of light.
