Ca(s) + 2H2O(l) --> Ca(OH)2(aq) + H2(g) On the other hand, if you put magnesium metal in water, you get wet magnesium metal. It won't react with cold water, but it will react with hot water vapor (steam) to produce H2. Mg(s) + 2H2O(g) (steam) --> Mg(OH)2(aq) + H2(g) Pb virtually has no reaction with cold water or steam. Under normal circumstances tin is stable in water. When it comes in contact with hot water vapour a reaction results, forming tinoxide and hydrogen: Sn + 2 H2O -> SnO2 + 2 H2
