Explanation / Answer

A non-essential amino acid is one which our body can make. So, it is not essential to get it from the diet. Even if not present in diet, then also our body will synthesise it via various amino acid biosynthetic pathways. Out of 20 amino acids, 11 amino acids are non -essential.

On the other hand, a essential amino acid is one which our body cannot synthesise. So, it is very essential to have it in the diet.

Vegetarians can have a diet full of grains, milk products, vegetables and legumes to ensure the adequate amount of essential amino acid has gone in their body. Combining of protein from different food sources is known as protein complementation. Protein complementation is not necessary if the diet has all the above mentioned ingredients everyday.
