1) sketch example of sarcomere and label all bands. the creation of force in muscle is dependent on interaction of thin filament w/thick filaments. Name main constituents of thick and thin filaments. now name what proteins control these interaction? also what bands during contraction disappear of sarcomere? explain why?

2) what is difference explain b/w skeletal and smooth muscle regarding these factors: a) structure/striation b) nervous system control, c) utilization of calclium for muscle contracction.

Explanation / Answer

1. The main constituents of the Thick and thin filaments are Myosin which forms the Thick filaments ,Actin forms the thin filaments .Myosin is the long ,fibrous tail and a globular head which binds to the actin ,The mysosin head also bind to the ATP which is the source of the energy for the muscle movement .Myosin can only bind to the actin when the binding sites on actin are exposed to the calicium ions.

Tropomyosin and troponin are the which bind to these proteins . tropomyosin is a long strandard loop around the Actin chains in thin filaments ,tropomyosin prevents themuscle contraction .

what bands during contraction disappear of sarcomere? explain why?

The bands which disappear during the contraction , the sarcomeres consists of the different regions ,the neds of the sarcomere consists of the Z bands ,within the sarcomere dark bands called A bands aniostropic alternating with the I bands which contain only thin filaments . the myosin and actin filaments overlaps in the peripheral egions of the A band ,where as the middle region called H zone . theH zone disappear as it becomes shroten during the muscle contarction .

2. a. structure or stration ; skeletal muscle are straited ,smooth muscles not straited .skeletal muscle are voluntary muscle

b. Nervous system ; skeletal muscle are voluntary the nerve impulses have the direct control over them through thebrain ,smooth muscles are involuntary because of their inability to control its movements .

c.utilization of the calicum ; smooth muscle calicium levels are low and there is lower in contraction .skeletal muscle utilize more calicium as there will be more muscle contarctions
