Explanation / Answer

Moles of Al = 5 mol

Moles of HCl = 5 mol

From the stoichiometry of the reaction

2 moles of Al required = 6 moles of HCl

5 moles of Al required = 6*5/2 = 15 moles of HCl

But we have 5 moles of HCl which is less than required 15 moles of HCl.

HCl = limiting reactant

Al = excess reactant

Moles of H2 gas produced = 3 mol H2 x 5 mol HCl / 6 mol HCl

= 2.50 mol
