Question

this question involves no math. I'm just trying to answer mypost- lab questions and they use some terminology that i don'tquite know.

they ask if the reaction was either:
A- single step bimolecular reaction
B- slow unimolecular decomposition

can anyone help define these?
please will rate lifesaver.

Explanation / Answer

A bimolecular reaction involves two reactant molecules. Thesereactants may be the same type of molecule, or they may bedifferent molecules. ex. A + A --> products     isbimolecular      rate=k[A]2      A + B -->products      isbimolecular      rate=k[A][B] A unimolecular reaction involves only one reactant molecule ex. A --> products is unimolecular    rate=k[A] Hope that helps! Let me know if it doesn't make sense.
