Question

Devise a separation scheme for a mixture of sugar(C6H12O6) crystals, diamond powder(C) and BaCO3. right now we are looking over using aqueous solubility andchemical reaction to separte these compounds to find theirmass. Explanation / Answer

Seperation of these solids could be achieved by a simplesolubility test. Sugar is completely soluble in water . So on filteration sugargoes into filterate and  diamond powder (C) andBaCO3 remains in the residue. On heating the filteratewe can recrystalise sugar. Now to the residue HCl is added . So BaCl2 isformed and goes into solution .Now once again filteration isperformed. So solid diamond powder is obtained as residue. Now tothe filterate sodium bicarbonate is added. Again BaCO3is formed. So all the three solids are seperated.
