Question

I'm having trouble figuring out how to balance Redoxreactions. I'm doing a Pre-Lab assignment and we haven't gotten tothe actual balancing of the equations in the lecture part of theclass yet and the instructions in the manual are veryconfusing. The problem I'm having trouble with is trying to balance thisequation: Cu + NO3 --> Cu2+ + NO (acidicsolution) I'm having trouble figuring out how to balance Redoxreactions. Explanation / Answer

If I understand your question correctly, since Cu has a 2+charge and the NO3 has a 1- charge, the balanced equation for Cu +NO3 would be: Cu2+ + NO3- ----->Cu(NO3)2 Sorry if I misunderstood your question because I don'tunderstand what part of this makes the question a redoxreaction. But I hope that helps. Sorry if I misunderstood your question because I don'tunderstand what part of this makes the question a redoxreaction. But I hope that helps.
